Objectives:
To analyse the effect of the threat of disqualification.
Methodology:
A postal survey of 1100 drivers followed by qualitative study of a sample of those responding and two focus groups.

Drivers with penalty points are more likely to be male, aged between 35 and 64, have high annual mileages and drive for work
